Inspirational Sayings

The following inspirational sayings and quotes are a small compilation used in speaking engagements, workshops, and other client interactions. Each of these reflect the many facets of engagement that Enrichment Strategies has with our clients.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home... a school…an individual.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string, we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% my reactions to life. By changing my attitude, I have the ability to change how people react to me.

And so it is with you…we are in charge of our attitudes.

Habit
I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do, you might as well turn them over to me,
And I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done,
And after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great men
And, alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine
Plus the intelligence of a man.
You may run me for profit, or run me for ruin;
It makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me
And I will put the world at your feet.
Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am HABIT!

THE ART OF SUCCESS

The art of success in a continuing upward spiral of progress. It is perpetual growth. Success is have the courage to meet failure without being defeated. It is refusing to let present loss interfere with your long range goal. Success is relative, individual, and personal. It is your answer to the problem of making your years add up to a great life. It is focusing the full power of all you are on what you have a burning desire to achieve.

THE GUY IN THE GLASS

When you get what you want in your struggle for self and the world makes you "King" for a day, then go to the mirror and look at yourself and see what that guy has to say.

For it isn’t your father, or mother, or wife whose judgment upon you must pass, the fellow whose verdict counts most in your life Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He’s the fellow to please... never mind all the rest, for he’s with you clear to the end; And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult task If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and "chiseled" a plum and think you’re a wonderful guy, but the man in the glass says you’re only a bum If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years and get pats on the back as you pass, but your final reward will be heartache and tears if you’ve cheated the guy in the glass.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

"Until you try, you don’t know what you can’t do."
Henry James

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life."

In the words of Shakespeare, echoed by Robert F. Kennedy:
"Some men see things as they are and say, why. I dreams things that never were, and say why not."

"Man’s mind stretched to a new idea, never goes back to its original dimension."

"The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never scoring."
Bill Copeland

"Success has no meaning without the possibility of failure. Victory has no appeal without the possibility of defeat. When someone is given the proper help and motivation, their success is ultimately up to them. You cannot drive anyone to success; they must be driven from within.

Some will succeed; others will fail. The secret of building a successful organization is to make the strong stronger. Concentrate your efforts on the people who are individually and personally willing to pay the price of success."

WHO AM I?

I do not choose to be a common man.
It is my right to be uncommon... if I can.
I seek opportunity... Not security.
I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me.
I want to take the calculated risk, to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.
I refuse to barter incentive for a dole.
I prefer the challenges of life to a guaranteed existence, the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.
I will not trade freedom for beneficence, nor dignity for a handout.
It is my heritage to think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations, and to face the world boldly and say, "with God’s help, this I have done."
